I have absolutely no guild to squee to so...!!

I was just doing a random group trying to get my pug pet and I got Utgarde Pinnacle. Easy, right? I wasn't even thinking about the blue Proto til my boyfriend (sitting on the other side of the room) said "good luck - hope the reins drop". Of course I laughed...everyone does. I've never seen it drop. And then it dropped. I actually screamed and scared the boyfriend! Rolled need and...I won!! I was bouncing up and down squealing. The boyfriend laughed at me and said he'd look at it when we both got back to Dalaran. To which I promptly showed off, took screenshots and posted! This is the only Proto I have. I *never* thought I'd get a Proto at all matter of fact. I'm not in a guild, haven't been able to find a raiding guild, and I gave up on the Green one ages ago. Read more... )

Ladies, enlighten me please?

I got the Kibler's Bits recipe this morning in my cooking daily, duly learned it and made some nummy bits for the guy's hunter pets. He had tamed Queen Shadra last night, and she was ferociously hungry, so we thought that would be good for her, right?

She's a spider.
Spiders are meat eaters.
Kibler's Bits are made of buzzard meat, same as buzzard bites (which she loves).
She won't eat them. He CANNOT feed them to her, because it says she doesn't like that food.

So much for "pet tested, hunter approved"???

What gives? Have you run into this before, or know what's up?

*truly baffled, and a little frustrated*

edit: typo, just logged in and discovered I was spelling it wrong, and my dyslexia is showing. whoops!

I saw [info]shipperx do this, and thought it'd be fun.

EDITED TO ADD: This is my scripted show list. I'm gonna do one for reality shows too :D

Angel: - see what [info]shipperx said here. I concur.

Big Love: I adore this show. I wish more people watched it. (GO, NOW, WATCH IT.) The acting is incredible, awesome, etc. It's never boring. The plots are byzantine, and could almost take place in any era of history, because, at heart, it's about humans, their fears, desires, fatal flaws, etc.

Doctor Who: It came back to me, all shiny and Britishy and made my heart go thump thump thump. Eccleston as Nine! Running! Daleks! (OK, an overabundance of daleks!) It introduced me to Tennant (Nine is still my fav but I ♥ Ten too). And now it'll take me into the next decade. I am a happy girl.

Glee: It's new yet, and could devolve (Notice that The Office isn't on this list?), and it has issues. But oh, singing, dancing, in high school! Takes me back to my youth :D

Lost: LOST. Lost. It's whacked, cracked out crazy, it makes me grrr regularly, and yet I love every episode and wait for the WTF moment. I heart you, my cracked out show.

Medium: This is a dark horse show. I really like Patricia Arquette. Its plots can be predictible, but I keep watching, week after week, even on new network.

Rome: Oh, hai, talk to me, you crazy Romans of all social strata. All your angstyness, sexytiems, and historical innaccuracy. YUM

Torchwood: Though it keeps breaking my heart, I love it. Including Children of Earth.

True Blood: Cheesy? Yeah. Horrendous accents? Yeah. Fun? HELL. YES. And they really know how to do a cliffhanger.

The West Wing: Like Angel, it started in the 90s, but majority of it was in the 2000s. What can I say about this show? It married my political geekiness into tv. It also did a life to art to life thing w/ the Obama/Santos parallels. It made me cry, laugh, yell. And it's still all spot-on.

Constantine Maroulis, star of the hit Broadway musical Rock of Ages, has been voted 2009 Broadway.com Star of the Year by readers of the site. Maroulis was the overwhelming choice of more than 25,000 voters for the year’s top honor. Nominees included Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman of A Steady Rain, Gavin Creel of Hair, Will Ferrell of You’re Welcome America: A Final Night with George W. Bush, Angela Lansbury of Blithe Spirit and A Little Night Music, Alice Ripley of Next to Normal and Geoffrey Rush of Exit the King.

Maroulis charmed audiences and critics as Drew in Rock of Ages, the tale of a rock musician dreaming of making it on the Sunset Strip, set to a score of hand-band hits from the 1980s. He received a 2009 Best Actor Tony Award nomination for his performance in the show, two seasons after making his Broadway debut in The Wedding Singer. Off-Broadway, he has appeared in Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris. Maroulis came to national attention when he finished sixth on season four of American Idol. His musical debut preceded his Idol fame, when he played Roger in a non-Equity national tour of Rent.

After some rather interesting LFG PuGs this weekend, both level 80 heroics and Wrath leveling dungeons, and finding out that if a person is cross-server, you cannot whisper them (or if there is a way, let me know!), how do you go about dispensing advice to cross-server PuGs? Or do you even bother? I don't like to embarrass people in party chat but I'd rather give people a chance before hitting the Vote to Kick button or leaving the group entirely.

So here's a few questions:
1) Do you give advice? Why or why not? How do you give the advice to the person?
2) If you were the person given advice, how would you react? Are you likely to listen to someone random?
3) Regardless of whether you give advice or not, how much time are you willing to spend in the dungeon before you either decide to Vote to Kick the poor performer, or leave the group entirely?

What is the best art supply store, in terms of selection & price? I'm specifically looking for good acrylic paints that aren't too expensive. I've been to Opus downtown, but I found their selection a little narrow, and the price seemed kind of steep. Any liquidation-warehouse type art stores around??

Today I was healing a pug and our warlock used an attack that drained his health (Hellfire?) while... overestimating how much health he had left. I tried to heal before it was too late, but alas, he was a Gnome corpse and there was nothing I could do about it.

He didn't seem to get that memo. He kept asking for a rez midbattle, but I couldn't tell him I was incapable of battle-rezzing because everyone else around me was trying to die. He kept asking and asking, in all caps and then just a 'HELLO' at me whilst I rolled my eyes and frantically switching targets. Thankfully, one of the other party members piped up that I was not, in fact, a druid-- I was a shaman.

The warlock still didn't understand, and after the pull I told him that only druids can b-rez. He apologized and all was cool, but it got me to thinking...

What are some common misconceptions people have had about your class or even their own? I know I assumed I needed spirit since I used mana, but it turned out the stat is basically useless for shamans.

So ladies, ~*enlighten me*~

WOW, 09 is nearing a close. Actually a decade has now passed. The double 0 years are over and my family is still standing for the most part, except I lost my dad in 04 and other former family members in 02 when my dad divorced my former step mom. However my family has grown, both of my children have children of their own. My daughter is married so now there is a son in law!
But the whole reason for this post is so that I can look back at this year when I am old and senile and say "What the heck is this crap? Who wrote this drivel? and where is my pudding?"

So on with the 2009 year in review for me.

The year started with Nikki and David remarrying, (Greg still wasn't invited) I'm really happy for them for Janie's sake. Every baby deserves to grow up with a mommy and daddy.

Obama took the office of the president of the US. For a moment happiness ensued.
Then reality set in and the economy that has been swirling in the toilet bowl actually went down the pipe. However things could be worse.

On mothers day, I got to meet my sons baby Amanda Lee Trinity Gray (Hale at this time). Drew brought her over so that we could meet her. Greg and I were excited and scared, because we didn't know if the baby's mom would be willing to let us see Amanda much. Turns out we see her almost every weekend. She is a ridiculously smart baby. We had trouble getting pacifiers away from her, but not because she wanted them. Her mom used them as a noise suppression device. Amanda talks A LOT! Her vocabulary is increasing daily. Although I'm maw-maw instead of grandma like I wanted to be but that's ok. She feeds herself pretty darned well for a two year old, she is a neat freak and loves to be clean and bathed. Her favorite thing is her sok/choo which is to wear socks and shoes. Oh and babies, she loves a baby.

My mom hurt her back in late January or early February and was out of work for quite some time and basically stared living in a recliner chair in her living room. It was really hard on her and me both. She wouldn't listen to me nor would she let me go to the doctors visits with her, so she just kept getting worse and worse. She wouldn't lay down in a bed and her feet swelled up so much that they started leaking! After 5 days in the hospital over the end of July (around her birthday!)and laying down FLAT while in the hospital she learned that her back wouldn't break if she lay in a bed and she got better!
She is doing much better and she has aches and pains, good days and bad days. However she is back at work, although she does need to reduce her work schedule. I'm really proud of her!

Greg took a small cut in pay, but it could have been worse, at least the company is still in business, and at the time of this writing they have recently been working a lot of overtime.
I've been working a lot and steady this year, still doing a job that I love at the greatest place in Chattanooga.

September we celebrated Amanda's 2nd birthday and Janie's 1st. Two beautiful and smart grandchildren. We are blessed. Amanda was born Sept 11 2007 and Janie was born on Sept 29 2008. I don't get to see Janie as much as I would like too, but Amanda sure does love her Anie and Nik-Nik.

Oct Greg turned 47.
Nov I turned 43.
Enough of that!

Drew was supposed to deploy back to Iraq in December on the 14th, and then on the 29th. Neither of which happened.

LC had knee replacement surgery on the 15th and is doing very well. He will be discharged from physical therapy by the beginning of the new year.

Drew got to come home and spend Christmas with his kid, which was really fun.
Drew brought home a nice fellow by the name of Chris for the Christmas holiday. Chris was a sweet kid. We all spent the 4 days they were home hanging out.
Amanda got a pink blue and white cozy car from Santa Claus and some baby dolls, which were her favorite presents. Although she loved the activity of ripping the paper off the gift maybe not the gift so much. She still has a doll house that isn't even out of the box yet!
She got a Zhu Zhu pet, and loved it out of the box until it ran into Gregs knee and he pretended that it was biting him and then she was afraid of it.
Saw the movie Avatar which was fantastic!

All in all it was a really good year. Thanks is owed to God.
He has blessed Greg and me this past year and past decade.
Looking forward to 2010, if I can only learn to write that on my charting and checks when the time comes!

I might be looking for a new guild here soon so just curious if there are any raiding guilds out there interested/looking for a feral dps druid? :)

Preferably I'd be looking for a mature, laid back and friendly guild who is currently working their way through ICC 10 or 25. I would also love to be working on more Ulduar hardmodes and trial of the grand crusader just for the pure sake of the challenge rather than gear. Though that would be considered a bonus and not a must.

My druid pretty much has gear for every spec but I prefer to dps as kitty. Her gear is mostly from ToC25 and ICC10. Her dps hovers around 5500-6000 overall on the meter, I'm usually sitting under those dern unholy dk's and rogues. I don't really feel comfortable linking my armory in such a public place but if you want to see it, let me know and I will PM it to you. :)

I'm a pretty active player... I always sign up and show up for raids on time prepared and ready to go, I also like running heroics(though I don't really need badges anymore) and working on achievements, etc. Horde or Alliance.. 10 or 25 doesn't really matter to me.. my only thing is no pvp servers, I avoid pvp like the bubonic plague. :D My schedule is pretty open right now so as far as days of the week goes, that doesn't really matter but raiding times I prefer around 4pm-12pm pacific time.

The critically acclaimed new production of Terrence McNally, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty's Tony Award® winning musical RAGTIME will play its final performance on Broadway at the Neil Simon Theatre (250 West 52 Street) on Sunday, January 3, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. following 28 preview and 57 regular performances.

Producer Kevin McCollum said: "While we're saddened and disappointed to announce that RAGTIME must close, bringing this beautiful and powerful production to Broadway has been a joyous experience. We couldn't have asked for a more talented and dedicated company and creative team or a more passionate team of producers."

Director/Choreographer Marcia Milgrom Dodge's production of RAGTIME debuted at the Kennedy Center's Eisenhower Theater on April 18, 2009 and played a sold out limited engagement through May 17 before transferring to Broadway where it began previews October 23 and officially opened Sunday, November 15, 2009.

Time Magazine named RAGTIME the Best Musical of 2009, the New York Times said "An elegant uplifting production that presents a panoramic vision of America," Associated Press said "Joyous and thrilling, with a joyous score. This is what musical theater is all about" and NY-1 News raved "This Ragtime is one for the ages."

While I am a Noob to this Community I am not a Noob to WoW. I have been playing for almost 3 years. No, I do not have the T9 gear or even gear from battles grounds as all 3 of my 80's I pretty much solo'd there doing quests. No, as for my earlier post it was NOT intended to be on my personal blog (like I said, I am a noob on LiveJournal) and I was NOT trying to make anyone upset. I accidentally found the community while researching Gondria and had found a community that likes to help others as much I like to help others. The subject of my post was what happened to me while standing at Shadow Vault. I normally make my own gear or buy them from AH when I have the gold.

Could someone please tell me the posting rules here so I don't offend anyone in the future?

Is anyone else having trouble with the website?

I'm trying to log into my account online (going to assign my new authenticator) and it just keeps refreshing to the login screen. It's doing this on both worldofwarcraft.com and battle.net. I can log into the game just fine. :/

Anyone else having issues? Or is it something with my internet (tried it on two browsers now).

EDIT: I was finally allowed to log in... by going to the European site? I am baffled. I only tried this because my brother was apparently having trouble earlier with Hulu telling him he couldn't watch something because we were outside the US (but Vermont was still a state last time I checked...)

I play a paladin, and she's specced holy/prot. Today I promised a friend a run and upon swapping back to her prot spec (she's predominantly holy these days), I find she's missing Holy Shield, Avenger's Shield, and Greater Blessing of Sanctuary from her spellbook and her hotbar. She has a shield equipped, and Shield of the Righteous is still present in her book.

Needless to say this is a problem as those are three pretty vital spells for tanking. She still has the talents in her tree, and I can't re-buy them from a trainer.

Anyone having the same issue? I've already opened a GM ticket, but I am positively baffled.

I come with a massive squee and a smaller squee, but a squee all the same. Squee!

Reputation has always been the fun part of the game for me, anything to do with rep i'll usually try to do because of this I'd gathered a few mounts, when I hit 50 for the Albino drake then hit 60 and 70 I knew I had to go all the way with it! Today it finally paid off and I got myself an awesome Dragonhawk!

Is there a limit to haste that a Holy Priest should have? I currently have 498 and I'm starting to think that's a bit too much. I have gear with crit that I use when I'm Disc that I can use to even it out more, plus gain some spell power and other stats.

Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone,

I recently lost my job and am in desperate need of cash to keep from drowning in debt, so I am opening up icon commissions. These are done in a simple graphic style, so I am offering them starting at $5. Characters with a lot of minute detail (like the Mirrii or Estela icon with all the armor) are $7.

art samples under cut )

You can find more of my art here: tigrin.deviantart.com

If you are interested, you can either reply here or e-mail me at krystinahaggerty(at)gmail.com. I can accept Paypal, check, money order, and concealed cash. Since I've been ripped off before, I need to have the full payment up front before I start; should I not complete the commission for whatever reason, I will refund the money.

So many tales of Pugs! This one has both the terribad and the pretty good. And side note, I realized I don't have any good blood elfy or warlocky icons! *cry* Also, you should totally get credit toward the pug achievement for doing pre-heroics at actual preheroic levels, cause having run pugs on my main, they seem to go a *lot* smoother than ones for my poor warlock.

Anyway, read on for the good and the bad. )

So, I posted a few weeks ago about not being able to handle healing Northrend instances. Well, I'm far from that now. I'm actually going to be hitting 80 in the next day or so (whoot! First one!)

Before that happens, I wanted to get some ideas from you guys. I've heard from my guildies that it's easier to get gear starting out as dps than healing because it's easier to struggle through heroics without wipes as dps...but if you're an undergeared healer...

That fact honestly makes me a bit sad. Should I dps for a bit till I start getting my gear enough to heal? Or should I try my hand at healing a few heroics before I go to that extreme?

Another thing I was thinking about but never found a set answer...haste cap. What's the haste cap for healers and should I gem strictly for haste till I hit it then go for spell power?

For any tips, here's her armory: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Earthen%20Ring&n=Quena

Thanks in advanced.

Well, after multiple LFG attempts at tossing me into a successful Occulas (and dear gods there were MANY attempts, people kept leaving) I finally got into another heroic a nice easy H-OK. First thing off the bat, the DK goes he doesn't want to do certain bosses despite the fact the rest of the group really does. We continue on, skip the first boss and then we lose the healer, get a new one and he does need the mushroom boss (one of the ones the dk doesn't want) and we ask him if we can do it - the healer needs it for the quest.

He goes sure after the last major boss, the leader goes "you're just going to bail after that last boss instead of doing the mushroom guy aren't you?" the dk says "Hell yeah - not doing that F*cking ass mushroom boss" so the leader votes to kick the dk and everyone agrees.

I then get a tell from the dk since he was from my server (Khadgar US) and calls me everything from "Stupid bitch doing 2+k dps" to "Cunt" and "Whore" and tells me to tell the leader that "He's a F*cking douche bag" etc so I ignore him thinking what a moron. THEN I get another tell from some lvl 1 alt of his and in capitals I get much of the same verbal splatter with a few more nasties tossed in - totally nerd rage on steroids type crap.

Seeing as I'm on the same server, I asked a fellow guildie of this guy who the gm was (I reported him to the gm as well as to blizzard) and ended up making a friend! The guy I send the tell to in order to find out the gm's name, was actually a really stellar player. I've met one total nugget and one really wicked player out of my only brush with total annoyance since the random dungeon feature went live.

So someone has posted in a forum (MMO Champion) that earthquake tremors have already started, possibly signalling the beginning of the EP's events. A few people have also said they've experienced the tremors, which is basically the screen shaking a few times with no explaination for it (no pet rhinos running past, etc).

Is there anything else happening? Has anyone experienced this yet?

I've noticed the wolf thing in Northshire Valley - do we think this is to do with Cataclysm or the beginning of the fight of Icecrown Citadel?

EDIT: wow.com apparently likes to read wow_ladies and picked up on my post. Lots of reports of tremors in the comments all over the place. http://www.wow.com/2009/12/28/are-invisible-mobs-ushering-in-the-cataclysm-world-event/

RIALTO CHATTER: NEWSIES Headed to the Stage with Spring Reading?

Wayman Wong of the NY Daily News has revealed that Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken has told him that he and lyricist Jack Feldman (who together provided the music for the 1992 film) are working on bringing the show to the stage, with a reading scheduled for the Spring of 2010 and a new book being written by Harvey Fierstein.

Newsies was a 1992 Disney live-action musical film starring Christian Bale, David Moscow, and Bill Pullman. Robert Duvall and Ann-Margret also appeared in supporting roles. The movie gained a cult following after its initial failure at the box office.

The film marked the directorial debut of choreographer Kenny Ortega (Dirty Dancing, High School Musical, This is It and upcoming In The Heights).

The film is based on the true story of the 1899 newsboys strike, in which the pint-sized newsboys delivering the New York papers went on strike against the unfair practices of news magnates Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst. The film features 12 songs and multiple dance sequences including Carrying the Banner, Santa Fe, My Lovey-Dovey Baby, The World Will Know, Seize the Day, King of New York, Hard Times, Hard Times, Once and For All and more.

Cheyenne Jackson- Not just another pretty face

Asking Cheyenne Jackson to pause and reflect on the year that has just passed is like asking a whirling dervish to calculate the number and speed of his rotations—it’s an impossible equation.

“Oh God,” he says in the 10-minute interview we’ve managed to squeeze in between back-to-back performances of Finian’s Rainbow. “The fact that I’m still standing upright, and I’m still moving. Because it’s been the busiest year of my life.”

The hunky darling of Broadway is currently starring as Woody in the acclaimed revival of Finian’s Rainbow at the St. James Theater, and just this past month joined the cast of the Emmy award-winning series 30 Rock in a multi-episode arc. He also recently released a new CD with Michael Feinstein called The Power of Two. And on January 15, Jackson and Feinstein will be appearing together at the McCallum Theatre in a reprisal of last summer’s popular show at Feinstein’s at the Regency Hotel in New York City—with some other fun stuff thrown in.

“It’s kind of insane,” Cheyenne admits about his hectic schedule. “My partner helped me get through and my family, but it’s taken all of my energy and my focus. So I’d say looking back, it’s the fact that I’m still here,” he adds with a laugh.

When Bobby Steggert exits the stage door at the Neil Simon Theater after a performance of “Ragtime,
” autograph-seeking fans don’t simply praise his work as the character Mother’s Younger Brother, the budding anarchist in this musical revival. Some also say, in sympathetic tones, how sorry they are that “Ragtime” is closing.

But no closing notice has ever been posted for “Ragtime.” The producers say no investors have insisted on shuttering the show, which has been slow to catch on. Advertising has not stopped. A marketing strategy for January is in place. And yet even admirers of this production of “Ragtime” are treating gossip about the show’s future as hard fact.

Broadway works in strange ways, made even stranger by the Internet. On the most widely read theater blogs, people can anonymously post rumors and then watch the gossip turn viral, as it did on the All That Chat blog on talkinbroadway.com earlier this month, when various people claimed they had insider knowledge that “Ragtime” was closing imminently. And as for modern-day Luddites, they routinely share gossip and predict ruin over post-performance drinks at Broadway watering holes.

A new post on the 'Memphis' blog hints at the possibility of a film version of the musical, and a potential tour, all the while promoting the limited edition of the original Broadway cast recording.

When asked if there will be a movie version of 'Memphis', the answer follows, "short answer: the movie people have been in. The movie people like what they saw." At the mention of the possibility of the musical traveling to Denver: "that all depends on the DCPA (Denver Center for the Performing Arts), but I would be seriously surprised if they didn't book it." The post also promotes the CD release of the limited edition of the cast recording, which features David Bryan track of "Memphis Lives in Me."

Burning Question about the Cataclysm Expansion #15:

Will Old Blanchy get another cameo in Cataclysm? And if so, what will it be?

My friend and I were talking yesterday at lunch and realized that our favorite old mare has gotten a cameo appearance in every version of WoW - the original Old Blanchy in Westfall, Young Blanchy in Escape from Durnholde and Lucky Old Blanchy in who's flirting with the wild stallions in Grizzly Hills. And that got us thinking - will Old Blanchy get another cameo when Cataclysm comes out? We hope so!

This post brought to you by a deficiency of sleep due to staying up late playing with Christmas toys. -.-

I don't know much about multi boxing; sometimes it's obvious when someone's doing it (like they have four toons named almost the same name running around together) but sometimes I think I recognise it, but am not sure. Like the other night in a PuG group. Read more... )

Hi, my laptop died three days before christmas (and I have to wait to send it off for repair till mid jan because of the holidays. *weep*) and I've pretty much decided that even though I'm getting it repaired, its over three years old now and the extended warranty runs out in a couple of months anyway so it might be time to upgrade to a new computer. I've been looking at whats around and I am contemplating an iMac (desktop) as they are almost comparable in price at the moment for what you get with a windows box.

My question is, I guess... how well does WoW run on them? The choice I seem to have with the iMacs for processors/graphic cards are:

3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo / NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics
3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo / ATI Radeon HD 4670 graphics with 256MB
2.66GHz Intel Core i5 (or 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7) / ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics with 512MB

Is that good enough for gaming? In particular WoW (mostly playing BGs and the occasional dungeon and other regular gameplay) The windows ones I've looked at the graphics cards all have 1gb of dedicated memory, so I guess that is what is concerning me the most, that 256mb/512mb isn't enough. But I'm pretty sure WoW has a large group of mac players so it must be, right?

==

Also, as an aside... as I've been a windows user up till now, I've had the windows version of WoW installed. If I switch to Mac, will I need to purchast a new copy of the game? or will I be able to download a Mac version (free?) and use my current account?
